Doshas
In Ayurveda, doshas are the three fundamental energies that govern the functioning of the body and mind. The three doshas are Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, and each is made up of a combination of two of the five basic elements of the universe: ether (space), air, fire, water, and earth.
Vata is made up of ether and air and is responsible for movement and change in the body and mind.
Pitta is made up of fire and water and is responsible for transformation and metabolism in the body and mind.
Kapha is made up of water and earth and is responsible for stability and structure in the body and mind.
Everyone has a unique combination of the three doshas, known as their Prakriti or constitution. Understanding your Prakriti can help you make dietary and lifestyle choices that promote balance and harmony within the body and mind.
According to Ayurveda, an imbalance in the doshas can lead to physical and mental health problems. Ayurvedic practitioners use various techniques, such as dietary changes, herbal remedies, and lifestyle modifications, to help balance the doshas and promote optimal health and well-being.
